I just found this little puppy on Kijiji.com, and am bummed that she's so young. I really don't think my apartment managers would let me have her, since she's only eight weeks old, but look at that face!
Yesterday morning I flew down to Tucson, Arizona with my mom and my sister, which is where we'll be for the next eight days. We are just relaxing down here now that school is out and doesn't start again until the end of next month. We have a house in an "active adult community," but that's okay because it's safe and quiet. Plus, our pool and hottub are done now, which is very exciting. It's nice being able to just run and jump in when I need to get cooled off, as opposed to driving down to the community pool. A few months ago my parents drove down one of their cars down from Seattle, so now we don't have to have a rental car either.
Well, weather here has been horrid. Yesterday we got to our house around 12, and by 2 or so it was super stormy. The thunder was pretty constant, and it never really cleared up! We got to go in our hottub for about 5 minutes before we decided that the lightning was getting too close. There was another thunderstorm around 4:30 this morning, but after that I just saw rain. Because of this, we decided to head up to Scottsdale to go to the mall up there (we are Nordstrom lovers, naturally), which is nearly a two-hour drive. I am not entirely sure the trip was worth it though. We went to a lot of stores that are also at Tucson Mall, plus we only bought a few things. Me? A J.Crew jacket, some Bare Escentuals mineral veil, and underwear.
One good thing that came of the mall trip: At the ridiculous pet store in the mall, I got to hold a shorthaired dappled dachshund! Poor little guy, he was sick and tired. At this store, they keep two or three dogs together in each small area for people to look at through glass windows. When people want to see them, they don't even have to wash their hands, they just give them the dog. There isn't anywhere to play with them either, and I was just so worried about holding the little guy right (since he's so long) that I didn't get to enjoy him. He was too tired to be played with anyway. He sure was pretty though, despite all of this. I want one!
Okay, time to relax after swimming and playing in the pool!
Last night my beagle Buddy and I were home alone, so I thought I would record some videos of him. He is 13, afterall, and even though my sister says she made a deal with him, he won't be around forever. So here he is being odd. And, please ignore me. I sound ridiculous...
Lately I have been spending a lot of time looking at pictures, videos (thank you, YouTube), and information about dachshunds. I think I am definitely going to get one next June after I graduate. I probably won't have any roommates after that point because they're all moving on and I still have a fifth year so I can sit for the CPA exam. So, it'll be perfect time to get a puppy right? I hope so. I've been looking at the different coats that they come in, and I'm going to get a longhaired dachshund, either with a cream coat, or black-and-cream. Maybe a black-and-tan dapple. They're all too cute! I've already e-mailed a breeder that should have puppies next May, so hopefully she has some good information for me. She breeds miniature dachshunds though, and I'm still not sure which size I would like. Miniature would sure be better for carrying him up the stairs, but I actually haven't seen an adult standard dachshund...ever. So I can't really judge. Oh well, I have plenty of time to figure it all out.
