I started looking for a dog again, this time on Petfinder. Here are my findings:
This is the sixth entry in which I've discussed my hunt to find the perfect Havanese. Will it ever end? I hope so.
The breeder gave the puppy to her sister today. Back to the hunt...
Tomorrow my sister and I are going to look at the puppy from my last post. I'm excited! In fact, I'm so excited that I just might decide to bring her back with me, instead of having the breeder keep her until the end of March. (And if Stephanie has her way, that's exactly what will happen. She keeps saying she's a great convincer and that I need to be spontaneous.) That would mean the dog would have to come down to Arizona with me, though, which might be more of a hassle than it's worth at $150. Charley might have fun with a new friend down there, though.
Darn, the puppy I posted about before has now been placed. Now the breeder is communicating with me about her friend's six-month-old female.
I may have had some partial success!
I called my mom today to ask her a silly cooking question, and during our conversation she called Charley over to her so that she could take him outside. Since I haven't seen Charley, oh, since Tuesday (it feels like forever ago!), I asked if I could say hi to him. So she put the phone to his ear and I said, "Hi Charley, hi Charley! This is Katie! Hi Charley!" My mom got back on the phone and said he was looking at the phone like crazy wondering how he was hearing me. After that I hung up and went back to trying to thaw some two-week old Holiday Potatoes my mom made for my birthday. But, after about 30 seconds, my mom called me back. She said that Charley was going crazy trying to find me! He went to the garage door, and then to the front door. When she took him outside, he sat out there looking for me still! Oh, what a silly dog. I'm happy to know that he loves me too.
In other Charley news, he had a rough day yesterday. He was neutered, and while at the animal hospital, they also pulled five of his baby teeth and put a microchip in him. And to make matters worse, my dad told me that when he was out on the deck that day, he found a bee, put it in his mouth, and wouldn't let go. So, he probably got stung as well. Poor guy.
And on a non-Charley note, tomorrow is a big day. The awesome iPhone will be released just after I get off of work, and I am heading over to every and any Apple and AT&T store until I get one. I can't wait to watch NBC's The Office on it... We're almost at threat level: midnight, people!
(By the way, it angers me when people complain about how the iPhone is so unbelievable expensive. Do people not remember that the Motorola RAZR was like $700 when it was first released?)
Little Charley, who has been home for a little over two weeks now, is already growing up. He'll be 14-weeks old on Thursday, and his face is now fuller and less dark. Hopefully he doesn't continue changing so fast! I fear that pretty soon he won't fit on my lap in the car. When we first got him, he fit perfectly lying on top of my legs length-wise, but now his rear curls around. He's also old enough that he's getting his last round of vaccinations on Friday, and then he can finally meet other dogs. He starts puppy class next month, too!
Yesterday we trimmed the hair on his feet and rear, brushed his coat, washed his face, and cleaned up his eye buggers. In honor of his traumatic experience, I took a few pictures afterward with my dad's DSLR. Here's my favorite:
